Nintendo Direct September 2022 highlights – BotW2 has a name | Pocket Tactics

Nintendo made sure not to hold back any punches during their Nintendo Direct today. It was full of incredible surprises that, while everything was still expected, brought a new wave of excitement that wasn't there before. If you happened to miss the show, we managed to catch everything for you to enjoy:

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

We'll start this article with the biggest announcement of the show, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We had already seen footage of the game and some gameplay but we weren't given anything more, until now. The latest announcement shows the title of the game, Tears of the Kingdom as well as a release date of May 12, 2023. The name was accompanied by a brief emblem that will most likely make sense as the game gets closer.

Tears of the Kingdom seems to follow the events of Breath of the Wild and will include not only a wide map, but an incredibly vertical one too. Link was able to traverse between floating islands with ease using a hang glider while still having so much to explore below him.

Fire Emblem Engage

The latest in the Fire Emblem saga makes its debut in Fire Emblem Engage. The trailer shown didn't discuss much about the premise of the game but we did get a glimpse of the popular character Marth as well as several new names. Hopefully, we will hear more as time progresses but for now, we only know that it will be available next spring on January 20.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

The latest installment in the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise is taking the world by storm and now even more so with the introduction of a new character. Players will have access to Ino who will be available as part of the expansion pass! The third wave will be coming soon but for now, get excited for the third wave to become available on October 13.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life

This installment in the Story of Seasons franchise is actually a remake of the ever-popular Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life for the GameCube. Play in this classic story with completely new graphics with the same touching story that you were able to enjoy many years ago.

Splatoon 3

Get ready for the game's very first Splatfest! What would you bring to a deserted island? Gear, Grub, or Fun? The event is going to be held from September 23 -25 where players will be able to choose their team and fight against one another.

Octopath Traveler 2

The first Octopath Traveler became a fan favorite amongst players of the genre for being a beautifully told and beautifully developed game. You traverse through the stories of eight different players as they converge to tell the entirety of what's going on in the background. The first game won many awards and was praised for being a great title by Square Enix and its sequel looks to be no different. You'll get the chance to play it on February 24, 2023.

Fae Farm

Fans of Animal Crossing and the Rune Factory games will be pleased to hear more about Fae Farm. You'll be able to farm the homestead and fight monsters with your friends in online and local multiplayer.

Final Fantasy Theatrhythm Final Bar Line

This game will be available for fans to enjoy on February 16 and will include over 300 songs from titles like Live A Live and Octopath Traveler.

Rune Factory 3 Special

Even though Rune Factory 5 was released earlier this year, the re-release of the third installment still comes as a happy surprise to plenty of fans. It will be available to play sometime next year and was awarded a new trailer showing off the project.

Nintendo 64 Games

Ib

Ib is a 2D exploration game by Playsim, in which a girl gets sucked into a mysterious world, coming to Switch in spring 2023. It’s a remake of the 2012 classic Japanese game, which is out already on other platforms.

Mario Strikers: Battle League

Two new courses are coming in wave 3 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Merry Mountain from Mario Kart Tour and Peach Gardens from Mario Kart DS. They will be released this year.

Nintendo Switch Sports

As part of the next update for Nintendo Switch Sports, players will be able to play gold with up to eight friends either locally or online.

Pikmin 4

The next installment in the Pikmin franchise was officially shown. No gameplay was revealed but apparently, the gameplay is being improved upon from the last game to make controlling the small Pikmin much easier.

Harvestella
