Since the first trailer was shown in 2019, we've been eagerly awaiting the release of this highly-anticipated Breath of the Wild sequel.
The second and third trailers, shown at E3 2021 and the Nintendo Direct September 2022 showcase, have only further fueled our excitement. We've learned that Link will gain a suite of new powers thanks to his new magical arm, and that the playable space has expanded into the sky. The gameplay is set to build expansively on the more open traversal and combat systems that helped define the original Breath of the Wild.
We're also intrigued by the story details that have been teased so far. The prominence of "tears" in the subtitle has us wondering whether echoes of Zelda: Twilight Princess will play a role here, and the mysterious Hylian writings and drawings have sent the internet into detective mode.
The setting of Tears of the Kingdom is also building on the world we first explored in Breath of the Wild. The skies have opened up, with Link able to move between floating islands and dungeons. Nintendo has also hinted that the game will take us beyond Hyrule, so we're excited to see where this adventure will take us.
