Everything Shown at Summer Game Fest 2023

The best is yet to come!
by Natalie Collazo on June 09, 2023

Summer Game Fest has officially ended, and several exciting titles were shown off. We wouldn't be DailyGamer unless we did a deep dive into everything shown during the live stream. So, without further ado, here is everything that you missed during this year's Summer Game Fest.

Mortal Kombat 1 Gameplay Trailer

Remember when we thought that the next game in the Mortal Kombat franchise would be Mortal Kombat 12? Well, it was officially confirmed that it will be a remake of the very first game in the series. During the Summer Game Fest, we finally got a first look at the gameplay and, we gotta say, it looks incredible. Unfortunatly this gameplay trailer can only be viewed on Youtube due to age restrictions.

Alan Wake 2 Gameplay Trailer

Where has Alan Wake been these last thirteen years? Apparently, he's been missing, and Sarah Breaker is tasked with looking for him. The game follows two different narratives: Alan and Saga Anderson, who is investigating murders that occurred in Bright Falls while also locating pieces of horror manuscripts that are possibly written by Alan himself. You can see what you could expect from the game when it launches on October 17.

Sonic Superstars

Sonic Frontiers launched not too long ago, but it's a completely different beast from Sonic Superstars. This time, the blue hedgehog is returning to his 3D roots in a co-op adventure with up to four players. Run through stages, defeat bosses, and collect as many rings as you can in Sonic Superstars!

Path of Exile 2

We haven't seen much about Path of Exile 2 since it back in 2021. Now, we received an entire gameplay trailer as well as the reveal of a much larger update come July 28. Diablo IV might be the king of ARPGs but Path of Exile is a whole different beast in its own right.

Baldur's Gate 3 Trailer

Baldur's Gate 3 has been in early access for a few years. It has been improving itself increasingly as more and more feedback rolls in, but we finally got a new trailer during the Summer Game Fest. In it, we see Lord Enver Gortash, the game's antagonist, and the reveal of Jason Isaacs as his voice actor. It was also revealed that we should be getting the game's full release sometime early next year.

Spider-Man 2 Release Date

Without needing to say it, Spider-Man 2 is definitely many players' most anticipated game of the year. We received a packed trailer for the game that revealed everything we wanted to know except for a release date. That was officially changed today when it was announced that we should expect Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5 on October 20. It is also interesting to note that during this reveal, it was announced that the game's Venom is not the well-known Eddie Brock.

The Witcher Season 3 Part 1

The first half of the latest season of Netflix's The Witcher will still have Henry Cavill as the lead. After that, Liam Hemsworth will be taking on the titular role. Until then, we got a glimpse of the Wild Hunt in the latest trailer for the show.

Lies of P Demo and Release Date

What happens when you mix Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio and Bloodborne? You get Lies of P. The latest trailer showed of the souls-esque game as well as revealed that a new demo is officially available to play on PlayStation 5, PX, and Xbox Series X.

Sand Land Trailer

Akira Toriyama is back again with a completely new IP. Sand Land gives players the opportunity to play as Lucifer's son, Beelzebub in a desert landscape. The unique art style and narrative is exclusive to Toriyama's work, and we couldn't be more excited for whenever it comes out.

John Carpenter's Toxic Commando

Everyone knows who John Carpenter is. He directed Escape from New York (whose main character was the inspiration for Metal Gear Solid's Snake character) as well as Halloween, The Thing, and They Live. Considering his right at the helm of the ship within the horror universe, it makes sense that he would work with a game developer on a new title. Toxic Commando looks to be a zombie adventure that focuses heavily on armed vehicles.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 Season 4 Trailer and Release Date

What would the Summer Game Fest be if they didn't show something about this year's Call of Duty title? The newest season will include a new map called Vondel that has several locations for players to play in. The season will officially launch next week on June 14.

Twisted Metal Show Trailer

Anthony Mackie isn't just the new Captain America, he's also a demolition derby driver who can't fight against Sweet Tooth. Over the last several years, television and film adaptations of beloved video games have been incredible. Let's hope that Peacock's Twisted Metal will be similar to titles like Netflix's Castlevania, Max's The Last of Us or even films like Illumination's The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The latest trailer makes me believe so.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 Trailer

More Fortnite! Fortnite Wilds will include a completely new area in the center of the island that is filled with extreme creatures such as dinosaurs, temples, and... Optimus Prime! It launches today, which will give players the chance to play using the power of Cybertron!

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Release Window

We got a teaser last week about how Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was developing at a steady pace. Now, we officially got a trailer that showed off a little bit more of the story, Midgar, and the release window of early 2024. It looks like Final Fantasy fans will be eating handsomely between this year and next.
