Witch Queen's New Dungeons Excluded from Standard & Season Pass

Bungie has gone and made some baffling decisions regarding the new dungeons in Destiny 2
by Adam Braunstein on October 21, 2021

Destiny 2

Destiny 2 has never had too long of a moment to breathe as with one thing or another, fans are always either clamoring for more or not enough. Well, this time, Bungie seems to have unanimously angered the whole Destiny 2 community with the announcement that the Witch Queen's new dungeons will not be included in either the standard edition of Destiny 2 or the season pass. A season pass by its nature is something that you pay for so that every DLC that comes out for the game will be free. Despite that actuality., Bungie has gone ahead and decided this new content will only be available as part of the deluxe editions of a game that came out 4 years ago. The cost of said edition? $79.99 and $99.99. Astounding.

The reason this is such ridiculous turn of events is that Destiny 2 has never done this before. Previously, if a dungeon was released, it would be part of an expansion or a free update. Those that wanted access could simply just buy the season pass and be in on everything from that point forward. This isn't even the sketchiest thing Bungie has done this month either as just a few weeks prior to this, Bungie announced that Forsaken content would be leaving permanently February 22nd. That means that if you purchased that DLC or season pass, it's going to be gone forever come February 22nd. Of course, you will not be getting a refund for this at all. These players did not rent the expansion, they bought it. When you buy something, it is permanent, but not according to Bungie.

Players already demanding refunds for this farce will likely expand those complaints with the recent garbage pulled off here. The bottom line is you can't just take away products that were already paid for. It's cute and all that Bungie sees this as way to recycle Destiny 1 and 2 content, but guess what? It's not cute to toy with players' wallets and it's probably going to invite some lawsuits when all is said and done. There is nothing angrier than a gamer scorned, and Bungie is making sure they will have an army of those ready to oppose them sooner than later.
