No Man's Sky Gets Halloween Update

Prepare for rideable sandworms and terrifying creatures
by Adam Braunstein on October 21, 2021

no man's sky halloween

What, did you think No Man's Sky was just going to sit back and watch as Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Fortnite had all the fun with their Halloween updates? Nope! Emergence is coming for No Man's Sky and what's in store is an awesome medley of things that will put you into the spooky spirit. Not only does it function as an event, but also as an update as there is a full narrative attached as well.

While No Man's Sky has ever been that focused on story, this time, Emergence will put you on a barren planet and ask you to solve the mystery of a cult that has appeared. This adds a ton to the game including fully rideable flying sandworms that you can tame and grow yourself. There will also be several grosser additions as well such as a jetpack that fires worms and a flesh launcher, which will apparently launch fireworks that explode into plasma and slime. There will also be more sandworm variants to show up around the galaxy as well and the newer ones will be a lot more horrifying than you're used to. There will also be new outfits, new trophies to collect, no particle effects that will affect everything in the game from meteors to muzzle flashes, and also a bunch of secrets involving the cult. Without spoiling anything, you'll have to investigate the cult on your own to see what secrets they have in store.

When it comes to games that have completely changed the narrative around them, No Man's Sky has to be at the top of the list. Once considered the butt of many jokes in the gaming industry, No Man's Sky has returned in a triumphant way to not only be a competent experience, but a truly one of a kind game that is truly special whether you play it on the flat screen, or the more engaging way in VR.
