Ubisoft Sends Out Emails to Players Who Stopped Playing Far Cry 6

"It was amusing watching you fail"
by Natalie Collazo on October 27, 2021

Every year games fight with one another for the spotlight on what players are going to be playing for the majority of the year. With Ubisoft having just released Far Cry 6 earlier this month, their marketing strategy for just that is interesting, to say the least.

Players who haven’t booted up the game in a while can expect to receive an email in the near future, so long as your Ubisoft account is connected, urging you to return to Yara. Of course, this sounds just fine but the emails are more aggressive taunts rather than encouragement to return.

Some players even noted that they received the email even if they have been playing the game regularly.

The email details how many hours the player has spent in the game as well as other metrics like total kills and unique weapons collected. In one particular case, the player had accumulated 33 hours and had still received the email to return.

When asked about it, Ubisoft said, "The emails sent to Far Cry 6 players are intended to be a fun and clever way to remind folks to come back to Yara and are written as if from El Presidente himself. We’ve heard from the community and we’ve shared their concern with El Presidente. And know that Chorizo does miss you dearly.”

Check out our review of Far Cry 6 where we say, “it’s likely the best one of these since Far Cry 3.”
