Battlefield 2042 Could Eventually Become Free to Play

EA is reportedly "looking at all the options" available to them
by Natalie Collazo on January 21, 2022

The latest installment to the Battlefield franchise is arguable one of the least popular in the entire series. Although EA is already set to begin working on the next installment, it seems as though they are exploring all options available to them in light of how poorly 2042 did. One of the options being explored is free-to-play in some capacity as reported by journalist Tom Henderson, although not much more has been embellished on the topic.

It doesn't come as a surprise as the game's player base has been steadily decreasing week after week since its launch. The game was filled with bugs, missing features, and plenty of other issues that have caused developer DICE to provide a variety of updates probably too late for a majority of fans. Providing some sort of free-to-play aspect might bring back players but it would greatly depend on how it would be executed.

Henderson himself said that he would have more information at a later point so keep up with the latest updates on this story directly on DailyGamer.
