Over 160k Players Have Signed the Battlefield 2042 Refund Petition

It has quickly become one of the most popular campaigns on the platform.
by Natalie Collazo on February 12, 2022

There has been plenty of news to go around as of late regarding the terrible delivery and upkeep of EA and DICE's latest entry to the Battlefield franchise, Battlefield 2042. A few days ago, it was announced that a petition had gone up on the popular Change.com platform and at the time there were a little over 75,000 signatures. Now, that number has jumped to double that at a staggering 160,000 and doesn't look to be stopping there.

The updates that have come since the launch of the game in November haven't at all helped the situation and anything more substantial than that will have to wait until this coming summer. Very few platforms, including Steam, have offered refunds to players who purchased the game and follow a particular set of refund guidelines but the same can't be said for platforms like Xbox and PlayStation.

Of course, we all remember how bad the refund situation was when Cyberpunk 2077 was released and how difficult it was for players to obtain a refund let alone a game at all. Hopefully, the situation will be different this time around but it doesn't look to be that way, especially considering the fact that fans have taken it upon themselves to make their anger more public than just a customer complaint.

The petition was updated earlier today with the following:

Over 150,000 of you have signed this petition, and because of your advocacy, reporters have paid attention. There are over 240 news articles in just the U.S. alone mentioning the petition and your concerns, comments, and asks.

Newsweek has even contacted EA for comment on the situation and the claims that Battlefield 2042 is unfinished. As of this update, there has been no response, but now they cannot deny the petition exists.

Keep signing and sharing, and know that your advocacy has led to a global conversation about consumer rights in the gaming industry.

EA hasn't commented on the acknowledgment of the petition as of writing this but come back for more information as this story progresses.
