All Evidence Points To A Massive State of Play Event Next Week

We might see a God of War: Ragnarök release date.
by Natalie Collazo on June 20, 2022

Sony PlayStation's New God of War Ragnarok Video Game Planned for November - Bloomberg

Tom Henderson is back at it again with evidence of an upcoming PlayStation State of Play event. In a Twitter post from earlier today, he listed several clues that indicate that an event announcement could be on the horizon. One of his reasonings was in response to another journalist, Jason Schreier, and his announcement that God of War: Ragnarök would have its release date announced later this month. He also lists an earlier article of his talking about new "Pro" controllers being developed for the PlayStation 5 which could very well get their own announcement.

While the Gran Turismo news could be a mundane announcement that could be done in a blog post, the God of War release date could be announced in a State of Play event. Of course, there have been other events in which Sony announced large title release dates such as Gamescom 2021 when Guerilla Games announced Horizon Forbidden West's 2022 delay. At first glance, signs point to an event coming about at some point at the end of this month but it's very possible that it doesn't happen at all. Earlier this month, we were bombarded with announcements from Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest which announced several highly anticipated titles. Considering that we didn't see a whole lot come out of the Sony pipeline, that on its own could be an indication that their first-party developers might want to make their event announcements.
