Everything Shown at the Call of Duty Next Showcase Event

The future of Call of Duty is here
by Natalie Collazo on September 15, 2022

Announcement: New Call of Duty®: Next Event Intel, How to Watch on September 15, Viewership Rewards, and Beta Rewards Detailed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is gearing up as one of the series' most impactful installments. During the most recent Call of Duty Next event, the game as well as the future of the franchise were discussed on a live stream. There were several announcements regarding specifically Call of Duty: Warzone, the franchise's battle-royale game. Warzone 2.0 will be released this coming November and will include a new map called Al Mazrah as well as new mechanics. The game will be combating cheaters with the Ricochet anti-cheat server protections.

Beyond that, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile was also discussed with a new trailer that goes over a few familiar locations for players who already play Warzone. Warzone Mobile will be launching for iOS and Android and is expected to be the mobile version of Warzone. Cross-progression between console and PC versions of Warzone was also announced, much to the surprise of fans who play on both platforms. Lastly, several announcements were made for the latest mainline game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. A multiplayer reveal trailer was shown off alongside the gameplay of Warzone 2.0 and the beta access period.

The beta begins on September 16 and will include both traditional 6v6 maps and one Ground War map. The three maps that players can engage with were also announced alongside their details.

  • Valderas Museum is a museum location that is set in Spain. The map is described as having "very clean sightlines, easy-to-read thoroughfares, and modern architecture." Valderas Museum is the first map that Activision revealed the overhead map layout for, and you can check out that image here.

  • Farm 18 is described as a map with a classified shoothouse-like location in the center of the map. Farm 18 was recently previewed in a TikTok video by Infinity Ward, where multiplayer designer Geoff Smith said the map was inspired partly by the small-size Shoot House map from Modern Warfare 2019.

  • Mercado Las Almas is described as a small bustling marketplace with fast-paced routes and lanes that blend together to "lead to pure, frenetic fun."

The beta will also include Team Deathmatch and Domination modes as well as three brand-new modes:

  •  Knockout is a tactical, round-based, 6v6 objective mode. Players must eliminate the opposing team or hold the package to win. There are no respawns, but teammates can revive each other.

  • Prisoner Rescue is a 6v6 round-based mode where teams take turns either trying to defend or rescue hostages on the map. Just like Knockout, there are no respawns in the mode, but teammates can revive each other.

  • Invasion is described as a massive deathmatch of up to 32v32 set across Ground War maps. The mode features mostly straightforward Team Deathmatch-style rules, but the map also includes AI enemies.
