Doom on Twitter

While not the most accurate statement, Doom is considered to be the godfather of all first person shooter games. The franchise has seen tons of titles throughout the year's with the recent Doom: Eternal being among the best of the bunch and now, you can play the game that started it all on Twitter. You didn't read that wrong, you can actually play a full game on the social media site.

The way to jump into this bizarre social experiment is to access the TweetDoom bot. Once you do that, all users can try to beat the game by inputting commands in the Twitter replies and hitting send. After you input the commands, you will see short ten-second clips of the results of your actions sent by the account. This isn't just complete chaos either as there is a full set of rules available to keep things from going off the rails. The game pretty much goes from crazy intense first-person shooter to a more methodical approach that almost feels like a turn-based RPG. Of course, this method of control is completely insane and understandably, many players have just been running into walls and shooting at absolutely nothing, but for some who have taken the time to master it, the results have actually been pretty solid.

Some players have even been attempting speed runs here and there are some very impressive clips of players completing levels in record times using these methods. Though there are definitely more fun and easier ways to play Doom, none are even close to the level of uniqueness on display here and it would be great if other games got this treatment as well.
