SOAZ Looking To Return To Pro Play

French LoL veteran is ready to return to the Summoner's Rift
by Tit Krajnik on October 23, 2021

Paul "sOAZ" Boyer has announced that he is looking to make a comeback to League of Legends pro play after spending the last year away from the competition. The veteran European top laner announced the news on October 22, unveiling he is determined to compete at the highest level again.

Veteran Ready To Make A Comeback

The 27-year-old LoL veteran has announced his desire to return to pro play after spending the last season as a head coach of the French League of Legends team, Team LDLC. As a head coach. sOAZ helped LDLC finish ninth in the La Ligue Française (LFL) 2021 Spring and fifth in the LFL 2021 Summer.

Although respectable achievements for his first season as a head coach, sOAZ believes he is still good enough to compete at the highest level as a player.

SOAZ made his first appearance in the LoL pro scene as a player in November 2010, when he joined against All authority and has since played for some of the biggest esports teams in the scene. His 10-year-long career saw him compete for Millenium, Origen, Misfits Gaming, Lunarity, Fnatic, and Immortals.

The French top laner was last seen competing with Immortals in the LoL Championship Series (LCS). He has spent nearly a year with the North American esports organization but left following multiple disappointing seasons.

Despite his rather underwhelming results towards the end of his career as a player, sOAZ is one of the most storied and experienced European players. He has won the LoL European Championship (LEC) four times and attended the LoL World Championship six times.

SOAZ also helped Fnatic reach the 2018 LoL World Championship grand finals but was left out of the roister for the first two maps of the series. The controversy behind replacing sOAZ with then-rookie top laner Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau led the French LoL star to leave Fnatic, ending a highly successful chapter of his esports career.

Who Can sOAZ Join?

SOAZ has stated that he is open to offers from the LEC, LCS, and even LFL; however, he has yet to reveal which team he might join. As a League of Legends veteran, sOAZ could prove to be a valuable addition to a team that wants to start fresh with rookie players. However, the French top laner has explicitly stated that he is more than a highly motivated shotcaller.

"No highly motivated shotcaller bull***t, I want get back to LEC/Worlds."

As one of the most accomplished European top laners, sOAZ could be considered as a great signing for many teams; however, given his age, his value as a player might be lower. Another thing that might bring his value down is rather disappointing stints with Misfits Gaming and Immortals, where sOAZ hasn't achieved much, failing to qualify for both the LEC and LCS playoffs.

Still, with plenty of LoL teams looking to freshen up their rosters ahead of the 2022 season, there is a world where we might see sOAZ back in action – either in LEC, LCS, or LFL.
