Crimsix Joins New York Subliners

Crimsix reunited with Clayster at New York Subliners
by Tit Krajnik on October 23, 2021

The New York Subliners announced one of the biggest signings of the Call of Duty League offseason on Friday, October 22. As revealed by the New York organization, it has acquired the three-time CoD world champion, Ian "Crimsix" Porter, who joins its roster for the 2022 season.

Crimsix Reunites With Clayster

With the signing of the winningest Call of Duty esports pro player, the New York Subliners reunited Crimsix with his former teammate, James "Clayster" Eubanks, with whom the 28-year-old CoD veteran played with at Dallas Empire in 2020.

Crimsix joins New York Subliners after leaving Dallas Empire in August as the most successful CoD player in history and an iconic name in the CoD esports scene. The 28-year-old won his first ring in 2014 with compLexity Gaming and has since added two more – in 2017 with OpTic Gaming and most recently in 2020 with Dallas Empire.

Besides his three world titles, Crimsix also won 37 Major tournaments and was a part of both compLexity/Evil Geniuses and OpTic Gaming dynasties, which lasted from June 2013 – November 2014 and January 2015 – August 2017, respectively.

Crimsix won his last CoD world championship title while playing alongside Clayster; however, the duo has not achieved much since they parted ways ahead of the 2021 CDL season. While Crimsix finished the 2021 CDL Championship in third place with Dallas Empire, Clayster managed only top-six with the Subliners.

New York Subliners Aim High

The roster overhaul follows New York Subliners' poor finish to the 2021 CDL season, in which the team finished in fifth-sixth place. Although the Subliners did enough to qualify for the CDL Championship 2021, they couldn't make a deep run.

Following an impressive 3-2 victory against OpTic Chicago in the first round, New York Subliners fell flat against the eventual champions, Atlanta FaZe (0-3), who knocked them down to the lower bracket. There, the Subliners met with Minnesota RØKKR, who handed them another devastating loss (1-3), eliminating them from the playoffs.

In a bid to find more success in the 2022 CDL season, the Subliners decided to rebuild their roster. They parted ways with Conor "Diamondcon" Johst, Obaid "Asim" Asim, and Makenzie "Mack" Kelley, keeping only Clayster and Paco "HyDra" Rusiewiez.

However, it wasn't until this month that the Subliners started filling in the gaps, with the signing of former Florida Mutineers player Travis "Neptune" McCloud on Thursday, October 21, and now Crimsix.

With a roster featuring two established veterans in Crimsix and Clayster, joined by two up-and-coming rookies in HyDra and Neptune, the expectations for the New York Subliners have been set.

"Repping NYC now and I couldn't be happier with this team we've assembled. Love you guys for supporting me this long, but this year I'm aiming to be the best version of myself in all regards," said Crimsix.

"No matter the situation, no matter the opponent. Self accountability creates confidence."

The tournament organizers have yet to reveal when the 2022 CDL season will begin. However, the New York Subliners already have its roster set, just two weeks until the Call of Duty: Vanguard release.
