Nintendo Joins Xbox and Sony in Speaking Out Against Blizzard

Allegations of sexual harassment and a toxic culture
by Natalie Collazo on November 23, 2021

Within the last week, both Xbox vice-president Phil Spencer and Playstation Chief Jim Ryan spoke out against the reports coming out of the ongoing investigation of misconduct at Activision Blizzard. Now, Nintendo president Doug Bowser has joined the conversation, labelling the reports as, "distressing and disturbing," via a company-wide email.

In the email, Bowser explains that he has been "following the latest developments with Activision Blizzard and the ongoing reports of sexual harassment and toxicity from the company." He continues on to say that the reports "run counter to my values as well as Nintendo's beliefs, values, and policies."

Bowser also claims that Nintendo has been, "in contact with Activision," and that they have, "taken action and are assessing others," though the specifics of this were not addressed.

The latest development in the case happened this past weekend in a report by Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick himself explaining that he told the company's senior management that he would consider leaving if the work culture issues weren't fixed quickly. The report was made in all seriousness, despite the fact that many of the demands regarding fixing the company culture begin with removing Kotick in the first place.

As of writing this, the Activision Blizzard board of directors continue to support and back the ongoing leadership of Bobby Kotick.
