Activision Acquisition Will Not Remove PlayStation Games Following Sale

New deal will not get rid of Activision games on PlayStation
by Adam Braunstein on January 21, 2022

Everybody breathe, Playstation games that were released under Activision will remain in stores no matter what happens with this Microsoft deal. It seems that there won't be any kind of exclusivity that's included with the deal when it comes to games released in the past by Activision. This means that all their great franchises including yes, Call of Duty and Call of Duty: Warzone. One of the most important parts of Call of Duty's appeal is the cross-play feature, so if Microsoft decided to cut off the biggest console player base in the world, that would not be very prudent at all.

Now, there is nothing in writing that says the Call of Duty games going forward will be on Playstation, so it remains to be seen what's going to happen with the titanic franchise. While the CEO of Microsoft, Phil Spencer, has said that Call of Duty is not going to leave Playstation, it's not really clear that this will be the case for the future of the franchise. It's possible that they might start developing another similar franchise on Microsoft platforms, but it's unlikely that Playstation users are just left in the dust by this newest acquisition. More details will trickle out in the coming weeks over this game-changing deal, so be sure to stay tuned for any updates.
