Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Is Being Made By 11 Different Studios

Activision Blizzard is pulling out all the stops for the next Call of Duty game
by Adam Braunstein on February 02, 2022

Call of Duty is one of the most popular games in the world and for the past 18 years, it's been one of those games that regardless if you're a gamer or not, you know what Call of Duty is. That's why when Activision Blizzard made a deal with Microsoft, the collective gaming world lost their minds because it seemed at first that Call of Duty would be exclusive to Xbox and PC going forward. Luckily, that's not the case just yet and the next game in the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, is already in the works and should be released sometime in 2022.

Something unique about the development though is how many studios appear to be working on it. Alongside Treyarch, there are 10 other studios that have been involved in some capacity in developing it. While this may seem to be a bit of a red flag to some, it shouldn't be an issue as these studios have had involvement with the Call of Duty games every single year for a long time.

The game is currently in its alpha stage, so that's why we have yet to see anything concrete regarding it yet. There hasn't even been an official announcement because of how early it is in development, but all signs point to an earlier release than usual in September for the annual franchise and this is going to be an epic release that has implications in Call of Duty: Warzone as well.
