Countdown Timer on Capcom Website Teases Fans

Could this be Street Fighter VI?
by Natalie Collazo on February 14, 2022

On their main website, Capcom has set up a page with a timer and not much else to go on in the way of hints regarding what it could be for. The timer looks to end on Sunday, 20th February at 10pm PT / 1am ET and coincides with the end of the finale of Capcom's Street Fighter Pro tour which could very well mean that Capcom is gearing up for a major announcement.

Considering this, fans are right to believe that it could be the announcement of Street Fighter VI; especially since this year would mark the 35th anniversary of the series as a whole. In fact, Capcom revealed a new Street FIghter logo on Twitter earlier this year which could also allude to the announcement of the next installment in the famous fighting game franchise."

Street Fighter V was released in 2016 and became a hit among fans after the 2018 release of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition which improved many aspects including the user interface, single-player mode, and added a highly anticipated Arcade mode. Street Fighter V: Champion Edition was released shortly after that in 2020 and was also highly praised by fans as it added all of the fighters, stages, and more.

Even if it isn't a new installment to the series, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise if a collection were to be announced or some other game in reference to the series. Of course, this is all in the way of speculation but it is very possible considering previous anniversaries celebrated by Capcom.

For now, check back on DailyGamer after the countdown ends to find out what it is that Capcom is trying to keep from us.
