Assassin's Creed: Valhalla Gets Some New Difficulty Options in preparation for Big Expansion

Ragnarok is coming, but first, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla makes sure we can have an easy time getting there if we want.
by Adam Braunstein on February 23, 2022

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla continues to be one of the more baffling games in recent memory. It’s absolutely gorgeous, has a great main character one of the more interesting stories at least in terms of its backstory, but the lack of engaging quest design and endless nature of it still irks me and quite a few others. I still keep coming back to it, but I’m not exactly sure why. The constant support that Ubisoft gives it seems to be a solid reason though.

That reason support comes in the form of the Saga difficulty. For those who found the game too hard even on its easiest modes, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla has released a difficulty that can be found underneath the Easy mode in the settings. This mode makes it so that enemies do not scale with the player at all. If you’re level 30 and head back to one of the first few areas of the game, you’re going to find that you’ll be able to one hit just about every enemy out there. The enemies also inflict less damage overall and they react far slower to stealth as well.

It's not just the new difficulty mode that comes in the latest update, but the ability to tweak the damage that you can take, the amount of damage you can deal and even how much you can heal, your adrenaline gains, and the base health of enemies.

This means you can make the game about as easy as possible or, you can make it a challenge on the level of something like Bloodborne, and have the brutal nature of the Viking world finally show its teeth. This will all be implemented tomorrow February 22nd, 2022 and it’s all in preparation for the big expansion coming on March 10th, called the Dawn of Ragnarok. In this expansion, Eivor will take on the guise of his alter ego once again and travel to Svartalfheim to try and stave off the end of the world.
