Bethesda's Roadmap Reveals Nostalgic Update for Fallout 76

Head back to 'The Pitt' in Fallout 76
by Adam Braunstein on February 22, 2022

Fallout 76 is one of the strangest game stories out there. It was the target of constant memes and was deemed one of the biggest failures in gaming history until Anthem came along and said “hold my beer.” It launched with countless bugs, weak graphics, weaker gameplay, and a complete lack of the characters or interesting quests that made the series such a staple in gamers’ minds for the past 15 years. Since then though it’s released a ton of updates, including one that completely revamped the way the game world worked in Wastelanders, and now? It’s actually kind of good!

With that in mind, Bethesda has released the road map for the future of the game and it’s a  pretty fascinating one. First off, we’ve got the spring update where we will be taking on aliens for the first time and this will be a map-wide event, so every player on every server is likely to get sucked into the action at some point.

In the summer, things are a little bit less clear, but there will be three new events called Test Your Metal, Eviction Notice, and the strangest sounding one, Moonshine Jamboree. After that, things get a whole lot more interesting in the form of Expeditions: The Pitt. This will include tons of new missions and will mark the first time that we are leaving Appalachia behind for another location.

For veterans of Fallout 3, you might recognize The Pitt as a city from the Fallout 3 DLC. This surely is pointing to a brand new version of that epic city and not only will that return, but the Trogs, the enemy that came with that Fallout 3 DLC will be returning as well.

Things get more nostalgic with the Winter Update for next year called Nuka-World on Tour. Nuka World you might remember from Fallout 4’s DLC and this likely means we are headed back to this deranged amusement park for some kind of hell ride.

As far as roadmaps go, this one was pretty damn exciting and while Bethesda hasn’t exactly been known to always deliver on their promises, they appear to have righted the ship with Fallout 76, so it might be smooth sailing ahead.
