PaulEhx Nearing A Move To New York Subliners

Subliners set up for another roster change
by Tit Krajnik on March 16, 2022

As revealed earlier this week, the Call of Duty League (CDL) franchise, New York Subliners, are nearing the signing of Paul "PaulEhx" Avila, who is expected to join the team in the coming days. The roster change follows Subliners' 1-7 start to the 2022 CDL season.

PaulEhx Finds A New Team

Although not officially confirmed yet, multiple sources have stated that PaulEhx would be joining New York Subliners in the next couple of days. It is currently unclear who the 20-year-old will replace, but he is possibly not the only change the Subliners will make.

PaulEhx was last seen competing with London Royal Ravens for a two-match stint, serving as a replacement for Joey "Gismo" Owen. But even though PaulEhx had played only two CDL matches this season, he has evidently shown enough to get spotted by the Subliners.

With PaulEhx serving as a temporary substitute, London Royal Ravens won both online matches. Against Los Angeles Thieves last week, PaulEhx stood out with his performance, ending the series with a phenomenal 1.19 K/D ratio and the second-highest kills and damage in the match.

The 20-year-old is currently without a team, but he was reportedly in talks with several organizations before the season started though he failed to sign a contract, leaving him out of the CDL until now.

Much-Needed Changes For The New York Subliners

New York Subliners already made three changes this season but have yet to find their footing. In February, the Subliners benched Travis "Neptune" McCloud and replaced him with Matthew "Royalty" Faithfull, but reversed the change just last week, following an early exit from the first CDL Major.

Besides the roster change, New York Subliners also replaced the team's head coach two weeks ago by promoting Ehsan "DREAL" Javed, who took over for John "Revan" Boble.

Now, just a week after making the most recent roster change, the Subliners are expected to make at least one more. PaulEhx's arrival is not official yet, but it's all but confirmed, while reports are suggesting that the Subliners could potentially add another new player soon. It's unclear who that might be or if Subliners will decide to move in that direction, but a major roster overhaul wouldn't be that shocking given the team's lack of success.

New York Subliners enter the second week of play at CDL Major 2 Qualifiers with a 1-7 overall record, second-worst in the league, ahead of only Paris Legion (1-8). Over the eight series, the Subliners have managed a poor 13% series win rate and equally as disappointing 23% map win rate (7-23).

It's unknown how the team management will approach fixing the situation, but adding a player such as PaulEhx is a step in the right direction.
