Netflix Live-Action Resident Evil Series Announced

Resident Evil is set for an 8 episode series on Netflix
by Joe Wilcock on March 18, 2022

Netflix and Capcom will be collaborating to produce a live-action Resident Evil series touted to premiere on July 14th 2022. Little is known about the series outside of its cast and that it's slated for an 8 episode long series. What is interesting to note though is that 2 of the top-billed cast members already have video game connections. Ella Balinska is due to portray Frey Holland in Square Enix's Forspoken and Lance Reddick, of John Wick fame, played Sylens in the recent Horizon games. Only the latter of which has a confirmed substantial role as he will be playing Albert Wesker, a staple antagonist of the long-running franchise.

RE is in the last chance saloon regarding their live-action features following the disappointing Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City and the bizarre Paul W.S Anderson adaptations, which were admittedly successful enough to spawn 5 sequels but are widely considered to be little more than action schlock. Here's hoping that Netflix can steady the ship and offer fans a genuinely quality Resident Evil experience.
