Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remaster Rumored for Switch

Microsoft's vision for Call of Duty on Nintendo Switch
by Natalie Collazo on March 31, 2022

Shortly after Microsoft announced that they would be acquiring the Call of Duty giant late last year, president Brad Smith explained that they wanted to bring the game to the Nintendo Switch platform. It seems like that vision might actually come true, according to leaker RalphsValve on Twitter, who explained that, "Activision are reportedly considering releasing Remastered Call of Duty titles repurposed for newer consoles to fill out the empty space between Premium Call of Duty titles."

In the rest of the thread, he clarifies that the game in question is Modern Warfare Remaster. If that is the case, the game would be the franchise's first entry on the portable console which could very well change the landscape of how people enjoy Call of Duty games. In the past, games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty: Ghosts had been brought to consoles like the Nintendo Wii U with little to no success from players. Now, the Nintendo Switch provides a plethora of new capabilities that might make the Call of Duty franchise more appealing.

Hopefully, this means that aspects like multiplayer and DLC will also be made available but there are some online limitations that developers are faced with.

We'll be keeping an eye on this story as it develops so for now, check back with DailyGamer for more news on Call of Duty and information from Activision Blizzard.
