Upper Deck Announces Official CDL Trading Cards

New trading cards for the Call of Duty League
by Tit Krajnik on April 04, 2022

A prominent global trading card company Upper Deck has partnered with the Call of Duty League to release a line of official CDL esports trading cards. As revealed, the cards, which are set to incorporate the 2022 CDL season, will be exclusively available through the Upper Deck e-Pack platform.

This marks the second time Upper Deck has struck a deal with an esports league. The global trading card company's first tenure in esports trading cards happened in 2018 when it teamed up with the Overwatch League.

The finer details about the new partnership have yet to be released, but Upper Deck has noted that it plans to start offering smaller series of "Game Dates Moments" cards and work on expanding the offer later in the year.

President of Upper Deck, Jason Masherah, commented on the partnership, stating that his company is excited about the future of esports, as the main reason why it decided to team up with the CDL to create new gaming collectables.

"The popularity of esports has grown exponentially in recent years along with the demand for gaming-based collectibles. We are excited to release the first Call of Duty League Game Dated Moments cards and look forward to releasing additional products later this year."

According to the announcement, the cards will highlight memorable moments from the CDL 2022 season. The first set will include the championship weekend, made available for purchase one week after each CDL qualifier and CDL Major.

"Physical trading cards for Call of Duty League have been a fan request for some time, and we're excited to deliver with an exceptional partner like Upper Deck. Fans can now collect actual moments that will become part of Call of Duty League's history through Game Dated Moments cards, collecting and trading for current and future seasons to come," said VP of Consumer Products at Activision Blizzard, Daniel Siegel.

Moreover, Upper Deck will launch a special achievement program. It will award those who collect all 20 Game Dates Moments cards from the 2022 CDL season with an opportunity to earn a limited 4-card championship Team Autographed Achievements Set. However, the company has noted that these achievements will be limited to only the first 199 collectors who will redeem them.
