Overwatch 2 Beta Starts Tomorrow

Fans can finally get their hands on the pseudo-sequel
by Joe Wilcock on April 25, 2022

Overwatch 2 has had an unorthodox track record since its announcement, with many fans referring to it as "Overwatch 1.5" due to its quasi-sequel nature. The prospect of its innovation has been brought into question by numerous outlets but, as of tomorrow, we will have a better idea of the state of the game when the beta launches. However, there are a few conditions that must be met to gain access to the sequel's beta, all of which are outlined below.

First of all, you must opt-in on the game's website to register your interest and be in with a chance to be chosen to participate. From there, the following criteria must be met:

  • It will only be available to PC players, there has been no word on a console beta.
  • Players must own a copy of Overwatch, or at least have a free trial of the game.
  • The selection process appears to be completely random, with successful candidates being contacted via email.
  • It's only available to players in North America, Europe, Latin America/Brazil, Korea, Japan, Australia/New Zealand, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia
  • All progression earned within the beta won't transition to the full game.

Overwatch 2's beta will feature 4 never before seen maps, Circuit Royal, Midtown, Toronto and Rome as well as an all-new "Push Mode". All the Heroes including the new combatant, Sojourn, will be available to play as too. Most interestingly though, is that the beta will introduce its new ping system, taking notes from Apex Legends' system that has become a hallmark of multiplayer games since.

The Overwatch 2 beta will launch on April 26th at 11 am PT and run up until May 17th.
