PlayStation 5 Is Getting V.R.R. Support This Week

Refresh rates will match the performance of the console.
by Natalie Collazo on April 26, 2022

Starting this coming week, tons of games on the PlayStation 5 platform will be receiving updates to reflect the new Variable Refresh Rate support. This will allow the refresh trades of TVs and PC monitors to dynamically sync and improve the console's graphical output. This will allow for gameplay in many of these titles to feel much smoother with scenes being rendered seamlessly and graphics looking the most crisp that they possibly can.

Here is the list of games that will be receiving this update:

  • Astro’s Playroom
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • Deathloop
  • Destiny 2
  • Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
  • DIRT 5
  • Godfall
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Resident Evil Village
  • Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
  • Tribes of Midgard

Of course, these are only the preliminary games to be getting this update as more games on the horizon will launch with these capabilities. This update will launch globally within the next few days so Sony advises that you are connected to the internet in order to receive the update. Once finished, all supported games will automatically be enabled and the feature can be toggled under 'Screen and Video' in the system settings.

Some games will also have the ability to turn on the VRR feature though it may not work the way it is intended to, resulting in unexpected visuals that can affect gameplay. Of course, this feature will be widely dependent on the type of TV or monitor you are using so PlayStation created a small FAQ to alleviate those who have questions.
