Nintendo Almost Hits $2 Billion in Revenue from Mobile Games

Most of the sales are coming exclusively from Fire Emblem Heroes.

Nintendo has officially made $1.8 billion dollars through its mobile games. Of course, many of these games have been discontinued since their launch including Miitomo and Dr. Mario World but it seems that wasn't stopping Nintendo. According to the graphs below (provided by Sensor Tower), Super Mario Run and Mario Kart Tour top the charts in global downloads while Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes are at a much lower download rate. This doesn't necessarily mean anything as Fire Emblem Heroes has contributed almost a billion dollars in revenue from in-app purchases.

Dragalia Lost trails behind the rest at only 4 million downloads which is incredibly telling considering that the services for the game will be shut down later this year. Strangely enough, however, it is the fourth-highest revenue-building game. This is most likely due to the fact that similar to Fire Emblem Heroes, players can also spend money on in-app purchases to purchase gacha packs. Fire Emblem Heroes launched in 2017 and surprised fans and newcomers alike with its gameplay style akin to Dragalia Lost. Players can open packs that include characters of different rarity levels as well as special costumes and items.

Revenue consistency was most likely not the same over these last several years with the introduction of the Covid-19 pandemic, but these numbers look really great considering the company's first foray into the mobile sphere. Hopefully, this trend will continue in the future as more games come to fruition as a recently released title, Pikmin Bloom, is not even featured on the graphs.
