Ceb Could Return To Pro Play As A Stand-In

OG need a replacement for Misha
by Tit Krajnik on May 09, 2022

Legendary Dota 2 pro player and two-time The International champion, Sébastien "Ceb" Debs, might return to pro play as a stand-in for OG. The news surfaced on Sunday, May 8, after it was revealed OG's captain might not be able to attend ESL One Stockholm 2022.

Misha Expected To Miss ESL One Stockholm 2022

The ESL One Stockholm 2022 is just around the corner, but unfortunately, many teams face visa issues, preventing them from fielding a full lineup for the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Spring Major. Most notably, one of the teams dealing with the issue is OG, who might be without captain Mikhail "Misha" Agatov.

The Russian Dota 2 player was reportedly unable to secure his visa and will not be able to attend the Major with the team. To fill in the gap, OG will likely look to field the two-time TI champion and a long-time member of the organization, Ceb, who is expected to return to pro play following a six-month hiatus.

OG has not shared any details about why Misha is experiencing visa issues. Although it's fair to assume it might be due to his Russian citizenship. On that note, OG might also miss coach Evgenii "Chuvash" Makarov, who is – like Misha – a Russian citizen.

Ceb Could Return

If the reports are true, Ceb would take over for Misha and return to professional Dota for the first time since November, when he retired from the scene. The 29-year-old has been a member of OG since 2016 when he joined as a coach, and he was a part of the roster that won back-to-back TI titles in 2018 and 2019.

Ceb last played for OG at TI10 in 2021, when the team finished tied seventh. After the tournament, Ceb stepped down from the active lineup and took over a new role within the organization.

However, this is not the first time Ceb will step out of retirement to help his team. He had previously taken a break from competitive play in January 2020 before returning to the roster in July to help OG compete at TI10.

Even though Ceb's return is likely, it has yet to be officially confirmed by OG or Ceb himself. However, we should get more details about Misha's replacement in the next couple of days before the ESL One Stockholm 2022 kicks off on Thursday, May 12.
