EA Rebrands To EA SPORTS FC As It Sheds The FIFA Moniker

Future projects will be community-centric.
by Natalie Collazo on May 10, 2022

Fans of the FIFA franchise will be surprised to hear that EA has officially decided to rebrand all future projects for FIFA under the new EA SPORTS FC. The vague announcement was made via a blog post on the official website that details how the project will change the future of releases as they will be in collaboration with over 300+ licensed partners.

Everything you love about our games will be part of EA SPORTS FC – the same great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs and athletes will be there. Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs and VOLTA Football will all be there. Our unique licensing portfolio of more than 19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30 leagues that we’ve continued to invest in for decades will still be there, uniquely in EA SPORTS FC. That includes exclusive partnerships with the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, the MLS – and more to come.

From the looks of it, it seems that instead of subjecting themselves to a yearly release, they will be compiling them all into a single experience that can be transferred over seamlessly. Whether this is an abstract conversation about some sort of NFT implementation was not really hinted at but this could very well be the verbiage being used to avoid scrutiny. The project is set to launch in 2023, following the launch of the developer's biggest interactive sports experience.

The project is also meant to be the epicenter of the entire football fandom which is already on its way to accomplishing just that with the games being popular in almost every country. Many partners shared their opinions on the matter at the bottom of the post including Nike and UEFA, citing their excitement.
