For the very first time since the console's launch, fans are seeing a significant price drop for the Nintendo Switch. Certain regions in Europe and the UK already saw a price drop for an unknown reason so it was logical to believe that one would be coming to the states soon enough. The $40 drop puts the console now at $259.99 for the first time in five years. It's unclear if this drop will be permanent or if the company happens to have something else up its sleeves but Nintendo is well known for never reducing the price of their software let alone their hardware.

Earlier this week, we reported that Nintendo had seen its most successful year to date regarding software sales. This is partly due to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons dominating the charts alongside newer releases like Pokemon Legends: Arceus and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. It was also mentioned in that same earnings report that their hardware sales were lacking due to the fact that they did not have any games that would drive hardware sales the same way that Animal Crossing did upon release.

It looks like they are setting off to change that this year but its also possible that this drop could mean something more. Of course, the OLED model has only just been released but it is very possible that Nintendo has a newer, more upgraded model on the horizon. For now, you can enjoy a brand new Nintendo Switch for $259.99 at locations like GameStop and Walmart.
