Dying Light 2's First Story DLC Delayed

No one is safe from delays.
by Natalie Collazo on May 12, 2022

Today's been a relatively rough day when it comes to news of highly-anticipated games and announcements being delayed. Earlier today we announced that Bethesda's Starfield and Redfall are being delayed until next year. Now, Techland has announced their big delay for Dying Light 2's first story DLC. They released a statement via a Tweet that details their post-launch lineup, including the news. They explain that the reason for this is simply because they need more time to develop the story. Now, it is set to launch this September, which is much sooner than the release dates of many other games that were announced the be delayed.

The post doesn't reveal much more information about the DLC besides its release window. Lead designer Tymon Smektala gives us a hint in saying that it will take place in an area outside of Villedor city limits, though not much else. The pushback isn't nearly as shocking as others that have been announced lately but it very much is a testament to developers doing what they can to mitigate and launch day issues regarding quality. I've mentioned before what I like to call the Cyberpunk effect which motivates developers to make sure that their workflow is efficient and maximizes game quality and developer quality of life during the creation process.

"We apologize for the delay, but we firmly believe that our community, fans, and gamers deserve to receive some truly unforgettable experiences," Techland said. "We want the first major story DLC to meet your expectations by giving it the absolute highest level of polish."

As more information gets released, we will continue to update this story. So, check back with DailyGamer for more news about Dying Light 2 and Techland Games.
