Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Gets Delayed Again

The upcoming remake has been delisted from stores
by Joe Wilcock on June 04, 2022

Not for the first time, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been delayed until further notice. Constant timing issues have caused retailers such as GameStop to delist the title from their stores and block all pre-orders. Rest assured though, that the game is not cancelled!

The game was originally slated for a 2021 release after a 2020 announcement but has been subject to multiple delays in the meantime. The project has also changed developers several times as Ubisoft Montreal seize control for the moment.

In a statement given to IGN, Ubisoft give an official update on the messy state of affairs:

“The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal. We’re proud of the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake.

As a consequence, we are no longer targeting an FY23 release anymore and the game has been delisted. If players wish to cancel their preorder they are invited to contact their retailer. They will be updated on the project as the development is moving along."

- Ubisoft

Prince of Persia is one part of a larger problem for Ubisoft. Skull and Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2 are still nowhere to be seen which leads fans to call into question their competence as of late. Let's hope the extra time spent in the oven was well worth it.
