Next Kojima Productions Game Could be a Horror Title

Kojima Productions themselves all but confirmed it.

Hideo Kojima Reportedly Developing a Horror Game Named Overdose - Push Square

Kojima Productions has all but announced their next game, OVERDOSE. We say this because the news was originally made by serial leaker Tom Henderson on the website Try Hard Guides. Shortly after the post was made, he made a small update stating, "Update - Kojima Productions have since asked for the publication of this report to be removed which we have declined." The post shows footage of a character wearing a blue dress being portrayed by Margaret Qualley, who played Mama in the first Death Stranding. Despite that, the footage doesn't look to be part of any Death Stranding sequels or spin-offs. The short trailer ends with a jump scare and a GAMEOVER screen followed by, "A Hideo Kojima Game.... OVERDOSE."

While the announcement might have been a bit of a surprise, there has been recent evidence of Kojima talking with popular forces. These include mangaka Junji Ito who is famous for his horror-themed mangas. He was also in talks with Microsoft about releasing an exclusive game with them in the same vein as Death Stranding. Of course, these are all just speculations with OVERDOSE being the first concrete bit of information we've received. It's possible that we will be hearing more information soon at the Summer Game Fest being hosted by industry veteran Geoff Keighley. A recent image surfaced of a video conversation between the two though it could have just been a friendly catch-up.

Norman Reedus had recently announced that Death Stranding 2 was currently in production. While this could have been a simple mistake, Kojima responded with a Tweet of his own also confirming the news.
