Sucker Punch Has “No Plans” of Developing an inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper “Right Now”

Ghost Of Tsushima Developers' attention is instead on a new project
by Joe Wilcock on July 02, 2022

Sucker Punch built its reputation in the early 2000s with the Sly Cooper franchise and soon became one of the most recognisable names in gaming after developing the PlayStation 3 exclusive franchise, inFAMOUS.

In the wake of releasing Ghosts of Tsushima in 2020, in which Sucker Punch showed several signs of growth and an increase in quality, many fans are now clamouring for a new release in either of the aforementioned franchises.

Unfortunately, Sucker Punch has come out and squashed any speculation of that happening:

“As we approach 25 years since Sucker Punch first opened, we’re proud to look back on the legacy of characters and stories we’ve created, from Rocket: Robot on Wheels to Sly Cooper and inFAMOUS, and most recently Ghost of Tsushima.

As our games continue to grow in scale and complexity, they require the full attention of our studio. With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either. These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now there are no inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper games in development.”

- Sucker Punch Productions

Ghost of Tsushima broke new ground as far as Sucker Punch is concerned with its critical and commercial reception. Although Sly Cooper and inFAMOUS did well enough to warrant sequels, Ghosts of Tsushima was in and amongst the game of the year conversation. The natural progression would indicate that a sequel is well on the way, but fans still hold out hope that Sucker Punch may return to the inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper series one day.
