Calyx Leaves Eternal Fire

Turkish Superteam is down a player
by Tit Krajnik on July 04, 2022

Turkish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team Eternal Fire announced the departure of Bu?ra "Calyx" Ark?n, who left the team on Monday, July 3. According to the reports, the 23-year-old has not only left the active lineup but was released from his contract.

Calyx's departure from Eternal Fire came out of the blue, and it was announced by the team, who unveiled the recent news in a Twitter post, thanking the 23-year-old for his service. However, the team did not provide any further details about the departure.

"Every good thing has an end. Thank you for fighting shoulder to shoulder with us so far; we wish you success in your career," read the announcement.

Calyx was a member of Eternal Fire since August 2021, having joined the team alongside Ömer "imoRR" Karata?, Özgür "woxic" Eker, ?smail?an "XANTARES" Dörtkarde?, and coach Timur "bishop" ?engül. Even though the "Turkish Superteam" struggled initially, they've found their strider in 2022.

Most notably, Eternal Fire peaked at no.20 in the global CS:GO ladder, successfully qualified for the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, and made the finals of Pinnacle Cup IV in May. Last month, Eternal Fire also made the quarter-finals of Roobet Cup, where they lost against the eventual champions BIG, and the quarter-finals of Elisa Invitational Spring 2022, where Eternal Fire got knocked out by ex-MAD Lions.

Calyx has played a key role in Eternal Fire's journey, averaging a 1.00 rating over the last three months, behind XANTARES (1.22) and woxic (1.10) as the team's top performers. However, despite his input, it seems like the team and Calyx felt it's best if they go their separate ways.

It is currently unclear who will take over for Calyx in Eternal Fire; however, the team still has plenty of time to find a replacement. Eternal Fire's next challenge is the ESL Pro League Season 15, slated to kick off in September.
