Wisla Krakow Close Down CS:GO Division

Wisla Krakow calls it quits
by Tit Krajnik on July 15, 2022

Wisla Krakow announced it is ceasing operations and will leave esports after three years in the scene. As revealed by the Polish esports organization, it will officially exit the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene at the end of July.

The Polish organization's decision to exit the competitive esports scene comes just weeks after it parted ways with in-game leader Grzegorz "SZPERO" Dziama?ek and Grzegorz "jedqr" J?dras, leaving the team with just three active members in Mariusz "Loord" Cybulski, Krzysiek "Goofy" Gorski, and Kamil "Sobol" Sobolewski. However, instead of rebuilding its lineup, Wisla Krakow decided to pull the plug on the project.

Wiska Krakow attended numerous LAN Events throughout its three-year stay in the CS:GO competitive scene and have achieved plenty of success. Wisla Krakow won ESL Polish Championship Autumn 2021 Finals, qualified for the Play-In stage of Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2022, and peaked at no.24 on the global ladder.

However, despite the team's success, things turned sour for the Polish lineup, which only qualified for one more event before the organization decided to shut down its operations. At the end of June, Wisla Krakow fell from no.24 in the world to no.58, and as if things couldn't get worse, the Polish squad also lost its key players in  Micha? "snatchie" Rudzki, jerdq, and SZPERO.

"At the end of the month, we will finally end our adventure with the esports section in Wis?a Kraków," said the esports manager of Wisla Krakow, Mieszko ?abuz.

The news sees the final three team members, Goofy, Sobol, and coach Loord enter free agency. In his farewell post, Loord started that he would be looking for new opportunities and continue his adventure as a CS:GO coach, but it's unclear what the future holds for Goofy and Sobol.
