Raalz Leaves Sprout

Another change in Sprout
by Tit Krajnik on August 01, 2022

Just a day after parting ways with Timo “Spiidi” Richter, Sprout announced its second change of the off-season. As revealed by the German Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team, Sprout has parted ways with in-game leader Rasmus "raalz" Steensborg.

Raalz leaves Sprout after one year of service, having joined the team in August 2021. The 27-year-old has been an integral part of the team, who he led to numerous tournament titles over the 12 months.

But despite his contribution to Sprout, the German esports organization decided to move in a new direction with its CS:GO division – a project that has started on Sunday, July 31, when Sprout waved goodbye to Spiidi. With the departure of two players, Sprout is now left with just three players on the active lineup and just under two weeks of time to find replacements.

Raalz leaves Sprout as one of the most experienced players in the scene, who started his CS:GO career in 2012, and he didn’t need long to make a name for himself. Raalz made appearances in the first two Majors alongside some of the most prominent names from the Danish CS:GO scene, but he has not reached the same heights since the disbandment of 3DMAX.

Since leaving 3DMAX in March 2014, raalz has competed in some lesser teams, struggling to find a breakthrough. In April 2020, he joined Lyngby Vikings, where he had spent nearly 1.5 years before the Dane got picked up by Sprout, where he replaced Denis “denis” Howell.

During his time at Sporut, raalz led the squad through a few notable tournaments, including Play-Ins of IEM Katowice 2022 and IEM Cologne 2022. He also made an appearance at ESL Pro League Season 15; however, the team did not achieve much success in either of the three big events.

Raalz’s future remains uncertain, as does Sprout’s plans to rebuild the CS:GO lineup. With only three players on the active roster, the German organization now has 13 days to fill in the voids, ahead of ESL Meisterschaft: Autumn 2022, where Sprout will debut its new roster.
