Recent Surveys Shows Overwatch 2 Could Have Skins Valued at Up to $45

The game hasn't released yet but the skins already look expensive.

Overwatch 2 beta gets another mid-cycle patch | Eurogamer.net

Everyone knows that whenever a game like Overwatch 2 comes around, there are always going to be skins and costumes available to be purchased to further customize your gaming experience. Twitter user Portergauge shared a survey that was emailed to them from Activision Blizzard that shows that the ones that will be available in Overwatch 2 can be upwards of $45. One of the questions asked in the survey was with respect to the cost of skins and whether or not the player would purchase them at the proposed price points. While this is meant to be a replacement for the loot boxes, it seems that the developer will be making sure that they get their money's worth.

Loot Boxes are pretty heavily looked down upon as a source of gambling addiction for those who continuously purchase them in order to receive rewards. Rewards are not always guaranteed and the rate for many items is so low, that it can cause players to purchase several loot boxes for even a small chance of getting what it is that they wanted.

This isn't the first time this year that the developer has decided to incorporate a gross amount of microtransactions in their popular games. Diablo Immortal, the most recent mobile game from within the Diablo franchise, has a point in the game where you literally cannot progress until you make in-game purchases. While this isn't the same for Overwatch 2 and the purchase of cosmetic skins, it's an interesting choice to make digital purchases so expensive for a free-to-play game. Overwatch 2 is still in beta and won't be available in full until October 4 of this year, so it's definitely possible that the prices seen in the survey won't reflect the final product. The point of a survey is to gather the opinions of the focus group you are sending them to, so there's definitely hope.
