Dota 2 The International Tickets Will Go On Sale Soon

Ticket prices are a bit too high for most people.
by Tit Krajnik on August 04, 2022

Dota 2’s premier esports tournament, The International 2022, is fast approaching, and while we’re still over two months away from the season-culminating event, the fans will soon be able to buy tickets. The exciting news, unfortunately, also unveiled some concerning details, namely the ticket prices.

The International 2022 will head to Singapore on October 15-30, welcoming the world’s top 20 Dota 2 esports teams competing for the lion’s share of a multi-million prize pool and the coveted Aegis of Champions. And as we get closer to one of the world’s biggest and most lucrative events, Valve released more details about the ticket availability and prices.

As announced on Thursday, August 4, TI22 tickets will go on sale on August 13 and will be sold in a single wave. The tickets will be limited to only five per customer for each day of the event. Moreover, the Singaporean ticket buyers will have the option of courier deliveries or pick-up, whereas all others must pick up their tickets at will-call only.

But among all the exciting news, Valve has disappointed its fans with the ticket prices, which many believe are extraordinarily high. That causes problems for Singaporean Dota 2 fans and those who will have to fly across the globe to attend the event.

Fans who will want to see the action live will have to first buy separate tickets for each day of the playoffs which will cost them anywhere from $88 GSD to $63 GSD per day – meaning that fans who will want to watch the whole four days of the playoffs will have to spend up to $352 GSD (USD 255).

The one-day ticket rule also means that Dota 2 fans will have to buy separate tickets for the TI finals, which will cost from $360 GSD to $498 GSD – bringing the total cost for playoffs and finals tickets to $615 GSD or $850 GSD (USD 615).

The extraordinarily high price of tickets has caused quite a backlash from the Dota 2 community, who have joined forces to express their concerns. But, unfortunately, it’s unlikely anything will change.

The International 2022 will kick off on October 15, 2022, welcoming the world’s top Dota 2 teams who will vie for the ultimate glory of lifting the Aegis of Champions. The prize pool for this year’s event is yet unknown, but it’s expected to be in the millions. Last year’s event broke the all-time record for the largest prize pool ($40,018,400), albeit the pot for the 2021 event has been accumulating for over two years due to the cancellation of the 2020 TI.
