MultiVersus Season 1 and Morty Delayed

“We’ll let you know the timing as soon as we can”
by Joe Wilcock on August 04, 2022

Warner Bros’s newest sensation, MultiVersus, has had its first season and next playable character delayed. As confirmed via their official Twitter page, instead of releasing on August 9th, as previously planned, they have decided to push it back to ensure that they produce “new and exciting content that delights players”.

“A big thank you to everyone playing MultiVersus. It’s exciting to see so many players enjoying the game and the launch of the Open Beta is just the beginning.

We want to let everyone know that we are delaying the start of Season 1 & the release of Morty to a later date. We know this might be disappointing for some and want to assure our Community that we are dedicated to delivering new and exciting content that delights players.

We’ll let you know the timing as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience & enthusiasm and look forward to unveiling Season 1 very soon!”

Fans will have to wait a little while longer to see what the battle pass entails and to play as the titular Morty from Rick and Morty. However, MultiVersus’ director, Tony Huynh, has shed some light on the logistics of the first battle pass. According to him, it cost players 950 Gleamium (1000 Gleamium = $9.99) and will consist of 50 tiers.

The “preseason” battle pass is still active and will continue to exceed its August 8th expiry date. Due to its limited nature, it only costs 300 Gleamium as it contains just 15 tiers.

MultiVersus has been a run-away hit since the beta went live, racking up over 5 million players already and garnering critical praise left right and centre.

The MultiVersus open beta is available for free on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One consoles, and PC (Steam) and will feature full cross-play between systems.
