Cellium Wins 2022 Call of Duty League MVP

He received over 90% of all votes
by Tit Krajnik on August 06, 2022

Atlanta FaZe's McArthur "Cellium" Jovel was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2022 Call of Duty League on Friday, August 5. It marks the second time that an Atlanta FaZe player won the regular-season award and is the first MVP reward for Cellium.

The announcement surfaced on Friday, on the second day of the Call of Duty Championships, when it was revealed that Callium earned 90% of first-place voting ballots, trouncing other candidates in Kenneth "Kenny" Williams and Brandon "Dashy" Otell.

Cellium claimed the prestigious accolade during FaZe's run to the second consecutive CDL title as the team looks to accomplish a feat that was never achieved in the history of CoD esports by a single roster. Although FaZe still have a lot of work to do, they are in a good spot to go all the way.

Atlanta FaZe entered the 2022 CDL Championship as the top-seeded team, having reached three of four Majors – even though they failed to win a single one. Regardless, FaZe have done more than enough to earn respect in the league, largely thanks to Cellium, who was a standout performer for the team.

Throughout the regular season, Cellium has averaged a 1.20 KD in Serch & Destroy, 1.18 KD in Control, and a 1.25 KD in Hardpoint, posting the highest figures in his team, establishing himself as a key player who helped FaZe end the season with a 68% win rate.

Following a dominant run through the regular season, FaZe kept their wheels spinning and are now in a good spot to win the CDL Championship. However, teir road to the second consecutive title started a bit shaky.

FaZe kicked off the CDL Championship by dropping two maps against New York Subliners before reverse-sweeping the New York squad. After edging past the Subliners, FaZe met with Seattle Surge, who also caused them some problems.

Cellium and his crew lost the first map of the series, bounced back by winning the next two, and slipped on Hardpoint (244-250), where Surge forced map five. Fortunately, FaZe proved to be the stronger team on the deciding map and edged past Surge with 6-5, which booked them a spot in the Winners' Finals.

Atlanta FaZe will play their next match today, on Saturday, August 5, when they face off against Los Angeles Thieves for a ticket leading into the grand finals.
