Capcom Teases A Beta For An Unknown Game For Resident Evil's 25th Anniversary

To celebrate Resident Evil's 25th anniversary, Capcom has new beta, although it hasn't revealed which game.

Resident Evil has had quite a rich history since its debut. However, few people realize that the franchise is as old as it actually is. The franchise made its debut almost 25 years ago, with Capcom announcing that it will be celebrating the anniversary. While the publisher has announced that it will be unveiling a week-long beta, it's yet to reveal what game players will have access to.

Given that Resident Evil 8 Village is set to be released soon, many gamers are speculating that it would be that. However, Capcom hasn't officially commented on the matter. The fact that the announcement came during a Village showcase added further fuel to speculation. Outside of the game, and the demo, 2021 is shaping up to be a historic year for the franchise.

As part of the anniversary, there's also a manga being developed based on the franchise, and Netflix is currently producing a television series. Both of these are scheduled to be released in the coming months, as is Village. Naturally, this should be enough to entertain Resident Evil fans, alongside more general horror fans.

The eighth installment in the gaming franchise looks set to finish off some stories started in its predecessor. Capcom has gone so far as to say that it will be a "conclusion" to many of its predecessor's storylines. However, it's also set to give players much more freedom in-game. There's also been a lot more information released about the game than many other installments in the franchise.

Not only will it carry on 7's story, but it will see the return of fan favorites Chris Redfield and Ethan Winters. While the upcoming Resident Evil anniversary demo may well shape up to be Village, there's also the remake of the fourth entry in the franchise to consider, alongside Outbreak.

While these hadn't officially been commented on too much, Capcom did confirm their existence after information about both games was released. The demo is scheduled to take place between January 27 and 29. Players will need a Capcom ID and be over 18 to be eligible to play.
