It looks like the most recent trend of large-scale acquisitions isn't slowing down. The latest revelation comes from AppLovin Corp who made an offer today to purchase the game development software Unity for a staggering $17.54 billion in an all-stock deal. A report from Reuters shows that the mobile tech company has offered $58.85 for each Unity share, at a premium of about 18%. Unity would maintain ownership of 55% of the remaining shares and then those shares represent about 49% of the company's voting rights.

Unity is incredibly popular as a mobile development software as has been proven in projects like Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokemon Go. These games are incredibly popular for their monetization factor as Unity CEO John Riccitiello recently criticized other developers for not implementing more. These comments were met with relatively negative feedback which could very well be part of the reason why the public offer was made. Hopefully, we will see more information arise soon enough about whether or not the deal will be made and what that will look like for the future of mobile gaming.
