Fortnite Teases Eminem Collaboration

The Slim Shady took over Icon Radio, hinting at a possible Eminem-Fortnite crossover
by Tit Krajnik on August 14, 2022

Fortnite is known for many things, but it’s the undisputed king when it comes to entertainment crossovers, having already introduced anything from movie characters to prominent music artists to the game. And it seems like Epic Games’ battle royale game has another big collaboration planned – this time with Eminem.

As many Fortnite fans noticed, Epic Games is looping music from a famous American rapper Eminem, who can be heard on Fortnite Icon Radio station. Naturally, this has sparked speculations of a potential crossover between the game developer and the music artist, who would not be the first one to enter the game in some capacity.

Epic Games is known for teasing a collaboration and letting fans speculate on what is to come before they finally reveal the information, so it makes sense that looping Eminem’s music on the in-game radio suggests that a new collab is in the works. Moreover, the Icon station is meant to showcase important artists, those who have in-game skin or have otherwise had an impact on Fortnite, and hearing Eminem’s music on it is definitely not an accident.

Fortnite had previously hosted a Travis Scott Astronomical in-game concert and has had other collaborations with prominent music artists, including Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic. Not only do they receive in-game items in the item shop, but Epic Games also featured their songs – even new ones – on the game’s radio station.

Although Icon station does not feature any of Eminem’s new or unreleased songs – rather older hits such as Not Afraid and some of his recent work – even the presence of Eminem’s songs heavily suggests a possible future collab. At what capacity it will come, however, remains to be seen.

Whether Epic Games plans to release a music pack like for the Notorious B.I.G, an Eminem cosmetic item or an in-game concert (like with Travis Scott and Ariana Grande) remains to be seen. But Epic Games and Eminem certainly have something in the works.

However, Fortnite fans will likely have to wait a bit longer before they see what Epic Games have planned. Currently, Fortnite is getting ready for a Dragon Ball Z update, which is said to come on August 16, but clearly, Epic Games is already planning ahead.
