Software Platform ironSource To Go Public Via SPAC | PYMNTS.com

We had written earlier about how AppLovin had made an offer towards game development software Unity for close to $18 billion. The offer was unsolicited but came after the deals offered by other large video game companies such as Microsoft when they moved towards buying Activision Blizzard last year. While it's known that AppLovin is a well-respected app developer for their mobile player base, it's true that the company doesn't necessarily represent the same ideals that Unity does as the latter decided to move forward with a deal from ironSource that they initiated. Unity CEO John Riccitiello had this to say about the offer:

"The board continues to believe that the IronSource transaction is compelling and will deliver an opportunity to generate long-term value through the creation of a unique end-to-end platform that allows creators to develop, publish, run, monetize, and grow live games and real-time 3D content seamlessly."

AppLovin's proposal included an all-stock deal that would have valued Unity shares at an 18% premium. It would also give AppLovin shareholders 51% of voting rights in the new company whereas ironSource's would leave Unity shareholders with nearly 74% of shares in the combined company.
