Los Angeles Guerrillas Sign Arcitys in a Blockbuster Move

Arcitys Leaves FaZe Clan, Joins Los Angeles Guerrillas
by Tit Krajnik on August 24, 2022

Two-time Call of Duty world champion Alec "Arcitys" Sanderson has officially joined Los Angeles Guerrillas on Wednesday, August 25. It marks the first major CoD offseason signing, and a shock move no one expected would happen.

Arcitys, who has spent the last two years with Atlanta FaZe, helping the team win the 2021 Call of Duty League Championship title and reach the 2022 CDL Championship finals, has been acquired by LA Guerrillas for the 2023 CDL season. The news got announced via LA Guerrillas' Twitter post, where the organization unveiled its starting lineup, which will feature Arcitys alongside Cuyler "Huke" Garland, Kris "Spart" Cervantez, and Travis "Neptune" McCloud.

Although Arcitys's departure from FaZe wasn't expected, the 24-year-old CoD superstar announced on August 18 that he is a restricted free agent. His announcement implied that Atlanta FaZe are looking to make changes to its roster ahead of the 2023 season, despite being one of the most consistent teams in the league over the last two years.

Notably, FaZe won the CDL Champs 2021 and four Major events in the same season but weren't as successful in 2022. In the CoD: Vanguard season, Atlanta FaZe did not win a single trophy but have reached three Major finals and the CDL 2022 Championship grand finals.

Arcitys's new team, Los Angeles Guerrillas, on the other side, have had quite a turbulent season in 2022. Although the Guerrillas won the organization's first CDL title at CDL Major 2, they failed to finish the season inside the top eight and didn't qualify for CoD Championship 2022.

Still, despite the team's lack of success in 2022, the LA Guerrillas will keep most of its roster intact, besides moving Austin "SlasheR" Liddicoat to substitute and adding Arcitys as the starter.

On top of adding a new player, the Los Angeles Guerrillas will also enter the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II season with new coaching staff. The franchise has recently parted ways with head coach Embry "Bevils" Bevil and promoted Richard "Ricky" Stacy from assistant coach to team manager.

The league has yet to announce when the 2023 CDL season will kick off, but according to reports, it could begin later this year, shortly after the release of CoD: Modern Warfare II.
