Bjergsen Sets A New Record For The Most Kills In LCS

Another career accolade for Bjergsen
by Tit Krajnik on August 28, 2022

Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg set a new record for the most kills in the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) history on Saturday, August 28. In the series against 100 Thieves, the Danish mid laner has accrued his 2,274th kill, surpassing ADC Jason "WildTurtle" Tran.

Team Liquid's mid laner added another accolade to his name on Saturday, when he reached his career 2,274th kill in the North American League of Legends league, officially throning himself as the player with the most career kills in the league's history. He broke the record in the fourth game of Team Liquid's LCS playoff series against 100 Thieves.

The previous record for the most LCS kills belonged to one of the best NA ADC players, Wildturtle, mostly known for his time at TSM, Immortals, and FlyQuest. Earlier this year, Bjergsen also surpassed 2,099 kills, beating the record held by his former teammate Peter "Doublelift" Yiliang, with who Bjergsen played at TSM.

Although an impressive feat. Bjergsen has had plenty of time to achieve the new kills record, having spent almost the entirety of his LoL esports career in the LCS. The Danish mid laner joined the North American LoL league in November 2013, when he signed for TSM.

Bjergsen spent over seven years with TSM, first as a player, before transitioning to coaching for the 2020 season. Eventually, the Danish mid laner decided to leave his legacy behind and joined Team Liquid as a mid laner for the 2022 season.

With Team Liquid, Bjergsen reached the semi-finals of the LCS 2022 Spring Playoffs and ended the LCS 2022 Summer regular season in third place. His team is now competing in the LCS 2022 Championship, where Liquid have made it past FlyQuest in the first round but lost against 100 Thieves (2-3) on Saturday.

However, Team Liquid still have a chance to compete for the LCS trophy and a spot at the 2022 LoL World Championship by fighting through the lower bracket. Team Liquid's next match is slated for Thursday, September 1, when they face off against CLG for a ticket for the third round of the playoffs and a guaranteed spot at 2022 LoL Worlds.
