Los Angeles Gladiators Part Ways With ANS

ANS departs LA Gladiators
by Tit Krajnik on September 12, 2022

Los Angeles Gladiators have announced the departure of DPS Lee "ANS" Seon-chang, who left the team on Monday, September 12. As revealed, ANS and the Gladiators have mutually parted ways ending the 22-year-old's one-year stint with the organization.

ANS leaves Los Angeles Gladiators as one of the most experienced Overwatch League players, having first joined the scene in December 2019, when he got signed by San Fransicso Shock. The South Korean ADC player has spent the next year with the Shock, helping the team win the 2020 Overwatch League championship and emerging as one of the best players the OWL has ever seen.

However, despite ANS's success with the Shock, he left the organization in 2021 and announced his retirement, later searching for a career in Valorant. Although he was picked up by the T1 Valorant team, ANS left the scene shortly after and returned to the Shock in the middle of the 2021 season.

Upon returning to San Francisco Shock, ANS has initially struggled to find his old form but still helped his team win the OWL 2021 Play-Ins and finished the season in fourth place. After his second stint with the Shock, ANS left the organization and joined Los Angeles Gladiators, who picked him up ahead of the 2022 season.

One of the biggest signings in the league proved to be the right move for the Gladiators, who ANS helped win Overwatch League 2022 - Kickoff Clash and Overwatch League 2022 - Midseason Madness. But despite his success with his new team, ANS's journey has come to an end.

Although Los Angeles Gladiators have not shared details behind ANS's departure, it seems like the team's signing of Lee "Happy" Jung-woo in August has something to do with it. With ANS and Happy sharing their hero pools, it seems like ANS wouldn't get much play time for the rest of the season, which naturally led him to explore other options.

As one of OWL's top players, ANS likely won't need long to find a new home. However, while it's likely that we will see the 22-year-old back in action soon, he has yet to share what his plans for the future are.
