Spirit Blossom Returns To League of Legends

The long-awaited LoL event returns after two years
by Tit Krajnik on September 16, 2022

On Friday, September 16, Riot Games revealed the return of the Spirit Blossom event, which is set to release ahead of the League of Legends World Championship. First released in 2020, the upcoming event will introduce new skins from the Spirit Blossom line for four champions.

The first Spirit Blossom event, which expanded the lore of the game, revealed the Spirit Blossom skin line, introduced Nexus Blitz mode, and featured a release of Yone, has been billed as one of the best LoL events. However, with no trace of Spirit Blossom in League since 2020, it has been largely forgotten, leaving the fans wondering when it might make a comeback.

And after a two-year-long wait, Riot Games has finally come out with a big announcement, revealing that Spirit Blossom will return to the Rift ahead of the LoL World Championship. Riot made the announcement with a short trailer, which showcased Sett traversing a similar path Yasuo took back in 2020, hinting that Sett will get its own Spirit Blossom skin.

Granted, the release of Sett’s new skin is hardly surprising, thanks to leaks, which surfaced in August and confirmed that Sett would be one of the four champions to get a Spirit Blossom skin. Other names on that list include Tristana, Master Yi, and Soraka.

If the leaks prove to be true, Tristana, Master Yi, and Soraka will join a long list of LoL champions with a Spirit Blossom skin, which currently includes Ahri, Cassiopeia, Kindred, Lillia, Teemo, Riven, Thresh, Vayne, Yone, and Yasuo.

The trailer, which is packed with easter eggs, has yet to be deciphered. It mentions Spirit of Legacy, Spirit of Chance, and Spirit of Freedom, which hardly indicates which three champions will receive a new skin. Nevertheless, the hints in the trailer fit in well with the recent leaks.

It’s yet to be revealed when the Spirit Blossom event will begin, but according to reports, it will be the main theme of the upcoming LoL World Championship, which is set to begin on September 29 with the Play-In stage. And with the kickoff fast approaching, it’s fair to assume that the event will launch sometime next week.
