It's been a while since we last heard news of the upcoming animated Super Mario Bros. Movie starring Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario. Today, Nintendo themselves announced a Nintendo Direct Thursday that will be featuring the movie. Beginning at 1:05 pm PT on October 6, fans will be able to witness the premiere trailer for the film via the official Nintendo YouTube channel. Alongside this announcement was the reveal of a new poster that details the film's animation style as well as the general atmosphere and tone. Its bright colors and the design of the Toads is very reminiscent of the more recent development style of Mario games, which makes that aspect of the film look promising.

The Super Mario Bros. movie stars incredibly famous names including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya-Taylor Joy as Princess Peach, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Kranky Kong, Jack Black as Bowser, Charlie Day as Luigi, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. The cast almost seems too good to be true and considering the fact that Illumination, the studio behind Despicable Me and the Minion movies, is also behind this film leaves much to expect.
