CD Projekt Red Outlines Their Future Development Plan

Get ready for the future of the Polish game developer.

CD Projekt Red is no stranger to ambitious projects as they've outlined with their launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Witcher series. The two games are primarily what make up the development company which makes sense why the company detailed the next ten years of content with them in mind. It's very possible that the pressures that employees faced during the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is the reason for a timeline so far in the future. The company failed to meet almost any deadline associated with the game which created many delays with content, updates, and even the release of the game's first major expansion, Phantom Liberty. Now that it's finally set to release at the beginning of 2023, there's room for more on the horizon.

It all starts with the Witcher franchise with the first three games in the ten-year pipeline being codenames for the franchise installments. The first is Sirius, which is to be developed by The molasses Flood, the same developers as Drake Hollow. The development style of Drake Hollow is completely different from what we know of the Witcher franchise but that is no indication that the final product will actually look that way. The project is then followed by another Witcher titled codenamed Polaris which will be the first of these to be developed by the core CD Projekt Red team. There are meant to be two more Witcher games that follow the release of Polaris, with one's name already codenamed as Canis Majoris.

Cyberpunk got love as well in the form of a title codenamed Orion, which will be developed by the CD Projekt Red Boston and Vancouver teams. It's unclear whether or not this game is meant to be a sequel to the Cyberpunk series, but the developer did state that they plan to have about a hundred developers on the project. Once all of these titles are worked on, the company will then turn its focus toward a new IP also codenamed for the time being as Hadar. All of these projects outline about a decade worth of content. While it might seem as though it's ambitious for the company to be thinking so far ahead, its wise for them to do so to better gain the trust of their investors, partners, and fans. Much of the launch of Cybperunk over the last two years was overshadowed by many allegations of workplace crunch time and the poor quality of their quality assurance team. Considering that, it's wise for them to show others that not only are they excited about what they are doing and what's to come, but that they are still interested in challenging the industry and what is expected.
